Jennifer Haslock
Jennifer trained as a Nutritional Therapist at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York, UK. Jennifer is also a successful Occupational Therapist making her skillset unique in undertaking holistic assessments. It was her own personal journey with health-related issues, impacting her love of playing competitive tennis, that led her to discover the many benefits of nutritional therapy. By understanding her individual body requirements and making personalised dietary adjustments, the outcome was remarkable. Overcoming issues of exhaustion, joint pain, and dermatitis, created a
new level of health and wellbeing. This inspired Jennifer to continue along her nutritional path embracing the impact of personalised nutrition on individual health, function, and performance. Jennifer takes a holistic approach to her practice and is passionate about motivating others to maximise their health and achieve their goals. Studying to a master’s degree level has heightened the importance of evidence-based practise using relevant research to support nutritional advice. Since qualifying, Jennifer has coached others to make positive changes to their diet and lifestyle to both optimise health and improve function.
Nutritional Therapy
Diet plays an important role in life and what has become more obvious over time is that no single diet works for all. Body composition, health requirements, activities we do and how we interact with the environment, collectively impact on our own unique nutritional demands. Nutritional therapy focuses on the personal application of nutrition and lifestyle, to promote health, performance, and self-care. Following the functional model of medicine, it incorporates physiological, cognitive, emotional, and physical aspects of life.
Genetics and exposure to life experiences, all play a major role in how we process nutrients. When our own dietary needs are not being met or are compromised, we can expect nutritional imbalances which will impact on our health and activity performance. Nutrition is not just about a diet of carefully balanced macro and micro nutrients but the bigger picture of the biological functions and processes that are unique to you. By assessing and identifying potential nutritional imbalances, a good nutrition programme will help you understand how to maximise your potential and reach your health as well as physical goals.
